(Web Desk): Power consumers may face another increase as distribution companies have submitted a request to Nepra for raising electricity tariffs.

According to the application filed with Nepra, power distribution companies have sought permission to recover Rs10,830,000,000 from consumers. This request has been submitted under the second quarterly adjustment of the current financial year. Nepra will decide the per unit adjustment after review.

In addition, another request has been filed to recover Rs24,250,000,000 under capacity charges. The application also mentions a reduction of Rs1,655,000,000 under operations and maintenance costs.

Sources said the quarterly adjustment for the period from October to December 2025 will apply to electricity consumers across the country, including K-Electric users. Nepra officials are scheduled to hear the case on February 17.

It is important to note that Nepra recently completed a hearing on another request related to an increase in electricity prices. The Central Power Purchasing Agency had sought a hike under fuel price adjustment, and Nepra has reserved its decision on that request.
