Since February 1, several pro-PML-N accounts on platform X shared a short clip of Wasim Akram from a podcast. These posts falsely suggested that he linked the PTI founder to Epstein’s island.
Jeffrey Epstein was a convicted sex offender and US financier accused of running a long-term sex trafficking network involving underage girls across the US and abroad. He died in a New York jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial.
His close associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, was later convicted by a US court for recruiting minors for abuse and was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022.
A fact-check was launched due to the video’s rapid spread and strong public interest in Epstein-related claims. A reverse image search traced the clip to a full podcast uploaded by an Australian YouTube channel on November 24, 2022.
The podcast, titled “Imran Said Let’s Go To A Nightclub“ | Wasim on Cocaine, Sledging & Sir Viv”, shows the viral clip starting at the 17:35-minute mark. In it, Wasim talks about clubbing with Imran Khan and does not mention Epstein or Maxwell.
Wasim refers to a visit to an island in 1988. Epstein purchased his island in 1998, while Maxwell was living in the UK at that time and moved to the US only after 1991.
The same clip had circulated in 2022 with identical claims, which Wasim Akram publicly rejected as false on his official X account.

Images used alongside the video, showing Imran Khan with Maxwell, were also found to be misleading. A reverse image search revealed they were taken at a London party in 1990.
According to image descriptions on Shutterstock, the party was hosted by Taki Theodoracopulos at the Savoy Hotel to mark the fall of communism in Europe.
The fact-check confirmed that Wasim Akram never said or hinted that Imran Khan visited Epstein’s island, making the viral claim entirely false.
