The government initiative is aimed to provide cheaper eco-friendly transport across Pakistan. The federal government introduced the scheme offering subsidized electric motorcycles and rickshaws to promote clean and affordable transport.
Under the program, a total of Rs100 billion has been allocated for five years, while Rs9 billion has been set aside for the current fiscal year. Officials said that 116,000 electric bikes will be provided this year with a subsidy of Rs80,000 per bike.

Electric rickshaws will also be included in the scheme, with each unit receiving a subsidy of Rs400,000, making them much more affordable for the public.
According to Hamad Ali Mansoor, the initiative will reduce the price of electric bikes by around Rs50,000 to Rs60,000 compared to market rates. He said, “The program will help reduce fuel costs, saving users around Rs8,000 per month.”
To apply, individuals must be Pakistani citizens aged between 18 and 65 years and must have a valid driving license or learner’s permit. Students are required to submit their CNIC and proof of admission, while all applicants must provide photographs and bank details.
The scheme uses a fully automated system to ensure transparency and fast processing. Authorities plan to distribute around 76,000 electric bikes by June 2026, mainly in urban and semi-urban areas.
Officials also highlighted that electric vehicles will help reduce pollution and support environmentally friendly transport in the country.
