PIA salary increase proposal raises hopes among employees
The Chief Financial Officer presented the salary increase proposal to the board. The proposal is now under consideration, while a final decision is still awaited.
PIA board reviews airline operations
The important PIA board meeting was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Lieutenant General (Retd) Anwar Ali Haider. The meeting discussed ways to improve airline operations and expand the fleet.
The board also reviewed plans to hire new cabin crew members. The proposal for new uniforms for the cabin crew was also discussed.
Two Boeing planes may join PIA fleet
The board was briefed about adding two Boeing aircraft to the PIA fleet. Both planes are planned to be obtained on a ’wet lease’ basis, with leasing arrangements expected to be finalised soon.
The board also decided to bring grounded Boeing aircraft back into service after repairs. PIA said the purchase of required spare parts for aircraft maintenance is already underway.
Rs1,000,000,000 funds released for PIA
The Civil Aviation Authority released Rs1,000,000,000 in funds to PIA. Following the release, the national airline paid the salaries of its employees.
The development comes after the decision to privatise PIA, while banks have also approved loans for the national airline. These steps could help the airline manage its financial needs and improve its operations.
The salary proposal is important for PIA employees because any increase could provide them with financial relief. However, the proposal should not be treated as a final salary increase until the board gives formal approval.
The plans for new aircraft and more cabin crew also suggest that PIA is looking to strengthen its operations. Bringing grounded planes back into service could help increase the number of available aircraft without relying only on new leases.
