Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi reclaims No1 spot in ICC men’s ODI bowling ranking

LAHORE: (Web Desk) Pakistan’s pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi has re-claimed the No1 position on the latest ICC Men’s ODI Bowler Rankings.

Afridi regained his place as the top bowler in 50-over cricket following some excellent displays during Pakistan’s recent series win over Australia. Afridi in the three-match series took eight wickets at an average of 12.62.

Afridi has moved up three places and taken the premier position from South Africa spinner Keshav Maharaj (down two spots to third), while Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan remains in second.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf improves 14 places to 13th overall and reaches a new career-high rating following his 10 wickets and Player of the Series heroics against Australia. Also Naseem Shah finds a new career-best mark improving 14 rungs to equal 55th.

Pakistan now have the top-ranked player in both batting and bowling in ODI cricket, with former skipper Babar Azam increasing his lead at the top of the batter charts following 80 runs against Australia when dismissed just once.

Pakistan outclassed Australia by eight wickets in the third and deciding match of ODI series at Perth.

Pakistan s batting lineup delivered a stunning performance, chasing down Australia s 140 runs target with the loss of just two wickets. Saim Ayub led the charge with 42 runs, followed closely by Abdullah Shafique s 37. Mohammad Rizwan scored 30 and Babar Azam scored 28runs who remained unbeaten, guiding their team to a convincing victory.

Thus, the host set 141 runs target for Pakistan to the deciding match in Perth.

In the deciding match, Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi claimed three wickets each. Haris Rauf sent two players to the pavilion, and Hasnain claimed one wicket.

Pakistan are confident to beat Australia in a one-day series on their home ground for the first time in 22 years. Pakistan won an ODI series in Australia in 2002.
