LAHORE: (Web Desk) In a move to promote electric vehicles (EVs), Pakistan has reduced import duties on EVs and their parts.

According to media reports, the import duties on electric vehicles and motorcycle parts have been reduced from 30 percent and 15 percent respectively to just 1 percent. It is anticipated that this significant decrease in EV import duties will lead to a pivotal shift in Pakistan s transportation policy.

Talking to a private new channel, Engineering Development Board General Manager Asim Ejaz said we are actively working to make advanced electric vehicle technology more accessible to the public.

The previous concerns about EV reliability had affected consumer confidence, Ejaz acknowledged. The policy board stressed that the new initiative is in line with international trends toward sustainable transportation.

Various nations are adopting electric vehicles technology. Pakistan s progress in the this arena is significant, and is expected to produce economic benefits through a significant reduction in fuel import expenditure.
