LAHORE (Web Desk): The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has made the process of obtaining new electricity connections stricter for consumers.

The company has now made it mandatory to verify the Electric Inspector’s test report online before issuing a demand notice or installing a meter.

According to sources, approval from the relevant Electric Inspector will now be required for all types of connections — domestic, commercial, industrial, and even tube wells.

LESCO has fully integrated the new connection system with the Electric Inspector’s report. Consumers applying online will now have to upload the test report along with their application.

Officials said that until the inspector’s report is verified online, no demand notice will be issued to the applicant. Once verification is completed, LESCO will provide the consumer with a meter and necessary equipment, followed by installation of the new connection.

According to company officials, this step aims to ensure transparency, safety, and the prevention of illegal connections in the power distribution system. However, many citizens believe the new rules will make the application process more complicated and time-consuming.

Energy experts stated that if implemented effectively, LESCO’s decision could help improve technical standards and enhance consumer safety in the long run.

LESCO’s new verification policy may increase paperwork and delays, but it shows a shift toward digital monitoring and stricter safety compliance. Experts say the system could reduce electricity theft and unsafe wiring practices, though customers may initially face longer waiting times for new connections.
