The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has officially announced a public holiday on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day, aligning with the federal government’s nationwide holiday declaration.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the SBP said that Banking Services Corporation offices and all banking operations across Pakistan will remain closed on February 5. The central bank confirmed that routine banking activities will resume from the next working day.

Federal and Provincial Holiday Announcements
Earlier, the federal government declared February 5 a public holiday across Pakistan to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day and issued a formal notification in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government announced an additional public holiday on February 6, citing Basant celebrations at the provincial level. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in a post on social media platform X, said the province would enjoy a long weekend, with:
- February 5 observed as Kashmir Solidarity Day
- February 6 declared a Basant holiday
- February 7 and 8 falling on Saturday and Sunday
She encouraged citizens to utilize the extended break positively.
Sindh Announces February 4 Holiday for Schools
Separately, the Sindh government had already announced a holiday on February 4, 2026, for all educational institutions across the province on account of Shab-e-Barat. The notification, issued on January 30, confirmed that schools would remain closed on 15th Shaban 1447 AH, corresponding to February 4, 2026.
Officials from the Sindh School Education Department stated that the closure aims to facilitate religious observance across the province.
