Go cashless: SBP launches nationwide digital payment drive for Eid-ul-Adha 2026
According to the central bank, the initiative is part of its broader vision to advance Pakistan’s digital economy and modernize the national payments system. The campaign focuses on facilitating secure, convenient, and transparent financial transactions during the busy sacrificial animal trading season.
This year, the campaign has been expanded significantly, covering 96 cattle markets compared to 54 markets last year. A total of 22 banks will set up dedicated camps and kiosks at these markets to assist buyers, sellers, transporters, and service providers with digital payment solutions.

Special arrangements have been made to encourage payments via QR codes, while new bank accounts will also be opened for vendors and related stakeholders to integrate them into the formal financial system. Additionally, temporary relaxations in transaction and account balance limits have been introduced from May 14 to June 5, 2026.
To further support accessibility, mobile banking vans and ATMs will be deployed around cattle markets. The central bank has urged the public to use mobile banking apps and Raast services, emphasizing that digital payments offer greater convenience, security, and transparency while reducing risks associated with carrying cash.
