KARACHI (Web Desk): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that all banks and financial institutions will stay closed nationwide this Thursday in observance of Independence Day.

The SBP has confirmed that the central bank, along with all banking and financial institutions, will remain closed on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

In an official statement, the SBP said, “The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed on Thursday, August 14, 2025 being a public holiday on the occasion of ‘Independence Day’ as declared by the Government of Pakistan.”

Following this directive, all commercial banks, microfinance banks, development finance institutions, and other financial bodies across the country will also observe the holiday.

This closure means there will be no banking services, transactions, or branch operations on that day, with regular operations resuming on the next working day.

The nationwide banking closure for Independence Day is a routine measure, but it serves as a reminder for individuals and businesses to complete urgent transactions beforehand. The shutdown will impact in-branch services, but digital and ATM operations are expected to remain functional, ensuring some continuity in essential banking needs.
