The demand has been made by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), Islamabad Chamber, and All Pakistan Traders Association, and the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Tax Bar Association.
In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Tax Bar Association has requested an extension for filing tax returns until October 31.
The bodies said that the 15-day extension includes four public holidays, which would reduce working days, causing difficulties for taxpayers and increasing pressure on the IRIS system.
They hoped that a 30-day extension would allow taxpayers to file returns more easily.
Also All Pakistan Traders Association President Ajmal Baloch made the same demand citing economic difficulties.
