(Web Desk): Punjab farmers will get up to Rs25,000 subsidy for using super seeders with the approval of a rental subsidy of Rs5,000 per acre.

The subsidy is being offered under Chief Minister Punjab’s Clean Air Programme. A farmer can receive a maximum subsidy of Rs25,000 under the scheme.

Subsidy available in selected districts

The government said the facility will be available to eligible farmers in selected districts of Punjab. These areas include Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Chiniot, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Narowal.

The list also includes Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Multan, Lodhran, Khanewal and Vehari. Bahawalnagar is also included among the districts covered by the programme.

Online registration announced

Eligible farmers can register online to receive the rental subsidy. They need to visit the official website of the Punjab Agriculture Department and complete the registration process.

The government has encouraged eligible farmers to use the official registration process. The scheme is aimed at making the use of super seeders easier and more affordable for farmers.

Clean air programme aims to cut pollution

The Punjab government said the main purpose of the programme is to reduce the burning of rice crop residues. The move is also aimed at protecting the environment from harmful air pollution.

The use of super seeders can help farmers manage rice residue without burning it in fields. The government hopes the subsidy will encourage more farmers to adopt this method.

The subsidy could reduce the financial burden on farmers who want to use super seeders. It may also help Punjab reduce smoke and pollution caused by crop residue burning.

The programme covers many major farming districts across the province. Its impact will depend on how easily farmers can register and access the subsidy.
