UAE announces new driving license, learning permit fees

(Web Desk): The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of the United Arab Emirates has announced revised fees for the issuance of driving licenses and learning permits, effective immediately.

According to reports, the learning permit fee for motorcycles, light vehicles, and light automatic vehicles has now been set at AED 100, while the fee for heavy vehicles, buses, and mechanical machinery will be AED 200.

Before taking the driving test, applicants will need to pay AED 200 for opening a file at the Traffic Department, AED 50 for the Safe Driving Guide, and between AED 140 to AED 180 for the eye test.

Additionally, every applicant will be required to pay an AED 20 innovation and knowledge fee.

For the issuance of a new driving license, individuals under the age of 21 will be charged AED 100, while those aged 21 and above will pay AED 300, including the AED 20 innovation charge.

If a driver wishes to change the license category from manual to automatic or from automatic to manual, an additional fee of AED 200 will apply, along with AED 20 innovation charges.

The new fee structure is aimed at streamlining the licensing process and ensuring all drivers meet safety and regulatory standards in the UAE.
