In the summit the Chinese President Xi Jinping stood alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

President Donald Trump on Friday sparked debate by posting a pointed message on his social media platform (Truth Social), remarking that India and Russia seem increasingly aligned with China after their leaders attended the SCO summit in Tianjin.

In the post, Trump shared an image of Xi Jinping, Narendra Modi, and Vladimir Putin together, adding,
“Looks like we’ve lost India and Russia to deepest, darkest China. May they have a long and prosperous future together!”

The summit saw more than twenty leaders from non-Western countries gather, symbolizing what many analysts see as a pivot away from U.S.-centric global influence

At one notable moment, Modi and Putin were seen walking hand-in-hand toward Xi, before standing side by side—a powerful visual underscoring their growing diplomatic rapport.

When asked to respond to Trump’s remarks, an Indian foreign ministry spokesperson declined to comment. A media channel also reported that Chinese and Russian officials could not be reached for immediate comment.

The comment starkly reflects rising tensions between Washington and its traditional partners. Trump has previously expressed disappointment in Putin, yet claimed not to worry about growing ties between Russia and China. He has also imposed sweeping tariffs—including up to 50%—on Indian imports in response to India’s purchase of Russian oil, intensifying bilateral tensions
