In a statement, Putin congratulated Iran on Nowruz, the Persian New Year, sending greetings to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei and President Masoud Pazhishkian. He expressed support for the Iranian people and urged them to face current challenges with dignity.
The Kremlin emphasized that Russia will stand with Iran during this delicate time and strengthen its strategic partnership.
The statement also condemned the recent attacks by the US and Israel on Iran, calling them a threat to Middle East stability and a trigger for a global energy crisis. Putin denounced the assassination attempt on Iran’s Supreme Leader as a “cold-blooded” act.
Experts note that while Russia’s support is strong in words, its practical assistance may be limited. Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Iran has faced several crises, and current challenges are among the most severe.
