(Web Desk): UK refuses to join Trump’s Hormuz blockade plan, backing free shipping as US moves toward action.

The United Kingdom has made it clear that it will not participate in any potential blockade of the Strait of Hormuz announced by Donald Trump, emphasizing its commitment to free navigation in the vital waterway.

A British government spokesperson stated that the UK strongly supports keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, describing it as essential for global economic stability and for reducing inflationary pressures at home. The spokesperson also stressed that no tolls or charges should be imposed on ships passing through the route.

The UK is reportedly working with France and other allies to form a broader coalition aimed at safeguarding free maritime movement in the region. Officials say the focus remains on ensuring uninterrupted trade flows rather than escalating tensions.

The development comes after Trump announced that the US Navy would begin a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, targeting vessels that pay duties to Iran. Following the announcement, United States Central Command confirmed that the blockade would take effect from 7pm Pakistan time.

According to US Central Command, the measure will temporarily apply to ships linked to Iranian ports operating in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. However, shipping between ports of other countries is not expected to be affected.

Analysts warn that any disruption in this key shipping route could have significant global economic consequences, particularly for oil supply chains.
