Fresh developments suggest a possible shift in the ongoing conflict as the United States and Iran move towards indirect talks. The situation changed after President Donald Trump decided to delay planned strikes on Iran’s power plants.
Trump said there are 15 points of agreement” between the US and Iran after recent discussions. He announced that he would pause any military action for five days. Earlier, he had threatened to attack Iranian energy sites if Tehran did not fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
However, Iran has strongly denied these claims. The foreign ministry said there was “no dialogue” between Tehran and Washington. Iranian officials rejected the idea of direct talks but confirmed that messages have been exchanged through other countries.
According to sources, several nations have been acting as intermediaries in recent days to reduce tensions. These “friendly countries” have passed messages between both sides, aiming to find a peaceful solution to the conflict.

Iranian spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said that such messages were received and Iran responded “appropriately” based on what he described as “the country’s principled positions.” This shows that indirect communication is ongoing despite public denial of talks.
Meanwhile, concerns are growing in global trade and shipping. Experts say companies may avoid Middle East routes and instead use longer paths around the Cape of Good Hope due to security risks in the region.
The human cost of the conflict continues to rise. Thousands of people have been reported killed in Iran and Lebanon since the fighting began. Iranian media also reported new Israeli strikes targeting multiple areas in Tehran.
Global markets reacted quickly to Trump’s announcement. Oil prices dropped sharply, falling by more than 7 percent to below $99 per barrel after earlier rising to $114 per barrel during the day.
Despite these developments, the situation remains uncertain. Military threats are still present, and both sides appear cautious while continuing indirect communication.

Talks are happening but not openly. Both sides are careful with their statements. Delay in strikes gives some relief. But risk of escalation is still very high.
