Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will be laid to rest in Mashhad, according to Iranian media reports, following a large mourning ceremony in Tehran.
Reports said the funeral gathering will take place at Imam Khomeini Hall in Tehran from today until Friday. After the central memorial events, Khamenei will be buried in the holy city of Mashhad. However, authorities have not yet announced the exact date of burial.
The development comes amid heightened tensions in the region and intense global attention on Iran’s political future.
In a separate and extraordinary claim, Israeli media reported that Khamenei’s son, Mojtaba Khamenei, has been selected as Iran’s new supreme leader following his father’s reported death in joint US-Israeli strikes.
However, there has been no official confirmation from Iranian state authorities regarding either the circumstances of Khamenei’s reported death or any leadership transition.

So far, Iranian officials have maintained silence on the leadership claim, leaving the region and the international community awaiting clarity on Tehran’s next move.
