TEHRAN (Web Desk): Chinese oil tanker passes through Hormuz despite US blockade, carrying 250,000 barrels as first vessel exits Gulf after restriction

According to reports, the vessel managed to pass through the strategic waterway, becoming the first ship to exit the Gulf after the blockade came into effect.

Shipping data shows that the tanker, named “Rich Starry”, is owned by Chinese interests and operated by a Chinese crew. Its successful journey has drawn global attention.

The tanker is carrying around 250,000 barrels of methanol, which it loaded from Hamriyah Port in the United Arab Emirates before beginning its journey.

Experts say the movement of this vessel is significant, as it tests the effectiveness of the blockade and signals possible challenges ahead in enforcing restrictions.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical route for global energy supplies, and any disruption can impact international markets and trade flows.

Meanwhile, a US official told “Al Jazeera” that the military is fully prepared to enforce the naval blockade, with sufficient forces and equipment already in place.

The United States began implementing the blockade the previous evening, aiming to tighten control over maritime movement in the region.
