China has openly expressed support for Iran amid rising tensions over the Strait of Hormuz, signaling a significant shift in the geopolitical landscape.
Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun stated that Chinese naval vessels are continuing to operate freely through the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized that China respects its trade and energy agreements with Iran and expects other countries to refrain from interfering in its affairs.
Dong further noted that the waterway remains open for China, highlighting the importance of maintaining uninterrupted access for global trade. He reiterated that China is committed to peace and stability worldwide and is closely monitoring the evolving situation in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry responded to reports of a possible naval blockade by the United States, urging all parties to exercise restraint and avoid escalation. The spokesperson stressed that keeping key maritime routes safe, stable, and free from disruption is in the collective interest of the international community.
