(Web Desk): Abu Dhabi arrests 45 people for filming attack sites and spreading misinformation as Iran strikes raise security concerns across the Gulf region.

Authorities said the suspects were detained by the Criminal Investigation Department of Abu Dhabi Police after they recorded various sites during recent security incidents. According to police, the individuals also spread misleading and inaccurate information online.

Officials warned that such posts could create panic, spread rumors, and influence public opinion during a sensitive security situation.

“They were also accused of spreading inaccurate and misleading information, which could incite public opinion and spread rumors within the community,” police said in an official statement. Authorities stressed that sharing videos or details of sensitive locations during security incidents can threaten public safety and national security.

Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Defence said the country’s air defence systems have intercepted a large number of missiles and drones since the start of what it called “blatant Iranian aggression.” In a statement posted on X, the ministry said air defence forces shot down 285 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,567 drones during the ongoing conflict.

Officials said the UAE remains fully prepared to respond to any threats.

The ministry also warned that authorities would “firmly confront any attempts to undermine state security,” while protecting the country’s sovereignty, stability, and national interests.

The conflict in the Middle East has now entered its second week, with violence spreading across several countries.

According to reports, around 2,000 people have been killed since the conflict escalated, most of them in Iran. Casualties have also been reported in Lebanon and some Gulf countries.

For the first time in decades of Middle East conflicts, parts of the Gulf region are facing direct security threats. The fighting has also forced several million people to leave their homes.

In Lebanon, heavy Israeli air strikes targeted the suburbs of Beirut, creating a serious humanitarian crisis. Lebanon’s interior minister said authorities are struggling to provide shelter for hundreds of thousands of people who have fled to the capital seeking safety. As tensions continue to rise, many experts fear the conflict could expand further and draw more countries into the crisis.
