US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says that a 180-day waiver has been granted in sanctions imposed on Syria, and that lifting the sanctions is the first step towards restoring US-Syrian relations. In his recent twitter post, he says, “Sanctions relief is critical for Syria to move forward. The United States is issuing a Caesar Act sanctions waiver to increase investments and cash flows that will facilitate basic services and reconstruction in Syria. We support the Syrian people’s efforts to build a more hopeful future.”

The US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says that Syria must continue to work towards becoming a stable country, and that US actions will put Syria on the path to stability and prosperity.
It should be noted that during his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, while speaking at an investment forum in Riyadh, US President Donald Trump announced that he had decided to lift sanctions on Syria after meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Donald Trump said that he is trying to normalize relations with the new Syrian government, and has decided to lift sanctions on Syria for a new beginning. Trump said he was going to give Syria a new chance, hoping the Syrian people would do something.
After this, Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa also met with US President Donald Trump in Saudi Arabia. This meeting was the first such meeting between Syrian and American heads of state in 25 years.
