DUBAI (Web Desk): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that Waqf (Islamic endowment) donors are now eligible for the UAE Golden Visa for Charity Donors.

This is a major step towards promoting humanitarian work and rewarding those who contribute to social welfare. It allows donors to qualify under the category of “financial supporters of humanitarian work.” The announcement follows a cooperation agreement signed between the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) and the Endowments and Minors Affairs Foundation (Awqaf Dubai).

Under the new framework, Awqaf Dubai will nominate eligible endowers — both residents and non-residents — who meet the conditions outlined in Cabinet Resolution No. (65) of 2022, which governs Golden Visas for financial supporters of humanitarian initiatives. Once verified, GDRFA-Dubai will issue long-term residency permits.

A joint committee will oversee the implementation of this program, assess its performance, and measure its social and developmental impact. According to GDRFA-Dubai, the initiative reinforces Dubai’s position as a global leader in tolerance, philanthropy, and sustainable development.

Lt-Gen Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA-Dubai, said the partnership represents “an advanced model of government cooperation that empowers donors to support community development through meaningful, sustainable initiatives.”

Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of Awqaf Dubai, emphasized that the initiative highlights Dubai’s commitment to strengthening endowment work as a cornerstone of sustainable growth and social solidarity.

This visionary initiative reflects the UAE’s continued efforts to celebrate humanitarianism, making philanthropy a defining part of the nation’s identity. By linking charitable giving with the prestigious Golden Visa, the country is inspiring more individuals to invest in humanity and community well-being.

The UAE’s decision to extend the Golden Visa program to charity donors shows a bold new direction in promoting social responsibility. By rewarding those who contribute to humanitarian work, the initiative is expected to attract global philanthropists and elevate Dubai’s image as a center for compassion and sustainable development. It also strengthens the culture of giving that lies at the heart of the UAE’s long-term vision.
