Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) annouynced that, these ‘unprecedented’ measures aim to extend consular support to holders of the 10-year residency permit while they are travelling abroad.
The new initiative, unveiled in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security during GITEX Global 2025, the UAE’s biggest annual technology event, ensures that golden visa holders can now receive vital assistance overseas.
As reported by the Emirates News Agency, the move has been described as the first of its kind and aligns with the UAE’s ongoing “Year of Community” initiative under the theme “Hand in Hand.”
Under the new system, if a UAE golden visa holder loses or damages their passport abroad, the MoFA will issue an electronic return document valid for seven days, allowing them to safely return to the UAE. A 24/7 hotline has also been launched to provide immediate support in emergencies or inquiries.
Additionally, golden visa residents will now be included in national evacuation and emergency plans during crises such as natural disasters, coordinated through UAE missions overseas. The new measures also streamline repatriation and burial procedures for those who pass away abroad, ensuring families receive timely assistance.
