Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced the launch of a special three-day electric bus service to facilitate the thousands of participants expected at the upcoming Raiwind religious congregation, a major annual event organized by the Tablighi Jamaat.

The decision was made during a high-level meeting with members of the Tablighi Jamaat’s central consultative council held on Monday. The Chief Minister stated that electric buses would operate round-the-clock from Lahore Railway Station and Allama Iqbal International Airport to Raiwind during the congregation period.

Maryam Nawaz directed the provincial administration to make comprehensive arrangements to ensure the comfort and safety of visitors. She instructed key officials—including the Deputy Commissioner, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO)—to personally oversee preparations and carry out on-ground inspections ahead of the event.

In addition to transport arrangements, the Chief Minister also ordered immediate road repairs and patchwork on routes leading to Raiwind. She further announced the reconstruction of three major roads in the area to accommodate the large influx of people expected during the congregation.

A special cleanliness and sanitation campaign will begin on November 1, which will include garbage removal, street washing, and rosewater spraying to maintain hygiene and create a welcoming atmosphere for attendees.

The Tablighi Jamaat delegation welcomed the initiative and praised the Chief Minister’s continued focus on public welfare, particularly her commitment to large-scale development projects such as the construction of 90,000 housing units across Punjab.

Speaking at the meeting, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that serving the people is an act of worship for her. She requested prayers from the religious leaders for Pakistan’s peace, prosperity, and for those who have been affected by recent floods in the country.
