Torrential rains hit Saudi Arabia
RIYADH (Suno News): The heavy rains in Saudi Arabia have caused flooding in Makkah and Madina, resulting in submerged roads

According to details, due to heavy rainfall, water accumulated in low-lying areas in Makkah, Madina and Jeddah. The rain has also inundated both urban and desert regions. Major highways are submerged, and traffic systems have been disrupted.

Hundreds of people, traveling through cars and buses, have stranded due to the severe flooding, and a rescue operation is ongoing to assist them. The rains continue to intensify instead of subsiding.

According to reports shared by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, the highest rainfall was recorded in Badr governorate, with Al Shafiyah receiving 49.2 mm. The Central Haram area near the Prophet’s Mosque in Madina experienced 36.1 mm rain.

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has predicted the rainfall in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s various regions, including Makkah, Madina, Qassim, Tabuk, Northern Borders, and Al Jouf.

The NCM has warned people of potential hazardous including strong winds, low visibility, and high waves as it forecast moderate rain in Jeddah.

Owing to intense weather conditions, the administration of Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport has urged travelers to check with airlines regarding flight schedules to avoid any inconvenience.

The Jeddah Mayoralty has mobilized over 4,000 personnel to manage water removal and maintain traffic flow across the affected areas.
