Oman govt declares public holiday to celebrate Islamic New Year

LAHORE (Web Desk): The Sultanate of Oman has decreed a public holiday on Saturday, June 29, 2025, for the celebration of the Islamic New Year 1447 Hijri as well as to mark the Hijrah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
The announcement was made in an official statement released by Omani authorities, which added that the sighting of the Muharram moon will be ascertained by the concerned departments.

The ministry also explained that in case any institution needs its employees to report to work on this day because of the nature of its activity, it may do so in agreement with mutual consent, provided that the employees are properly compensated for the holiday.
