Robert Abela, Prime Minister of Malta, now a member of the European Union, has also announced conditional recognition of Palestine as a state at the United Nations General Assembly meeting in September.

On the other hand, Israel has condemned the announcement by Canada, Britain and France to recognize a Palestinian state, calling it a reward for the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas and saying that the announcement will harm efforts to reach a ceasefire and return hostages.

Meanwhile, the White House has also said that President Donald Trump believes that recognizing a Palestinian state is a reward for Hamas that should not be given to it.
