
This scholarship invites academically outstanding applicants from around the world to pursue fully funded doctoral studies or short-term research in Germany.
Two major funding streams can be chosen by applicants:
· Research Grants – Doctoral Programmes in Germany offers full funding for PhD candidates enrolled in a German university or research institute.
· For applicants looking for shorter research stays, ranging from 2 to 12 months for doctoral students and 2 to 6 months for postdoctoral researchers, the Research Grant is designed.
Eligibility includes applicants with an MS or MPhil degree with an above-average academic record. In order to qualify, applicants must already be admitted to either an individual doctoral project or a structured PhD programme. The selection is expected to happen in February 2026 and the application deadline is 29 August 2025.

Monthly stipends of up to €1,300 for doctoral candidates, travel allowance, health and personal insurance, and in some cases, family and accommodation subsidies are offered by DAAD.
DAAD enables promising scholars to start their doctoral journey in Germany, fostering knowledge exchange across borders. DAAD’s mission is to enhance international academic collaboration and nurture global research through its scholarship programme.
