Washington (Web Desk): Pakistan has received an invitation to attend the first official meeting of the Board of Peace as part of its outreach to countries that have already joined the initiative, diplomatic sources said.

Sources say the first meeting will focus on giving a clear shape to the board. This includes deciding its structure, mandate, and setting up a secretariat to run its work.

One diplomatic source said the meeting is important because it will decide how the board will function in the future. Without this basic framework, the board cannot move forward.

When asked about Pakistan possibly sending troops for a proposed international stabilization force in Gaza, sources said such talks are premature. They stressed that troop discussions may come later, not at this stage.

Another source also confirmed that it is still too early to talk about military contributions. For now, the focus remains on organization and direction.

Pakistan is one of 14 countries that signed the charter of the “Board of Peace” on January 22 during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. This made Pakistan a founding member of the new body.

The idea of the board was first floated in September 2025, and it was formally set up last month. Under the charter, the US government acts as the official depository.
