(Web Desk): Tajikistan has said that an armed attack from Afghanistan targeted workers at a camp near its border, killing three Chinese employees and raising new security fears in the region.

According to Tajik officials, the assault took place on the night of November 26 at the LLC Shohin SM workers’ camp. The site lies inside the control zone of the 1st Border Guard Post “Istiqlol” under the “Yol” Border Detachment in the Khatlon region.

A statement issued by Tajikistan’s Embassy in Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq and Oman said the attack was carried out with an unmanned aerial vehicle. The drone was reportedly fitted with grenades and firearms, causing the deaths of three Chinese nationals working for the company.

Tajikistan said it has repeatedly tried to keep the border area peaceful, but criminal groups inside Afghanistan continue to disrupt stability. Officials said such incidents undermine security efforts and increase regional tensions.

The Tajik government strongly condemned what it called terrorist actions and urged Afghan authorities to take effective steps to control hostile groups operating near the border. Tajikistan also stressed the need for stronger cooperation to prevent future attacks.

Security experts say this attack highlights growing risks along the Tajik-Afghan border. Using a drone with weapons shows a worrying shift in tactics. The pressure is now on Afghan authorities to respond. Without action, more cross-border incidents may follow, creating wider instability.
