A Tejas fighter jet of the Indian Air Force crashed during a training flight at an airbase, adding to growing worries about the aircraft’s safety record. The pilot managed to eject in time and remained safe, preventing a bigger tragedy.
According to Indian media reports, the jet developed a sudden technical fault while flying. The aircraft reportedly lost control in the air and crashed to the ground, where it caught fire. Emergency teams rushed to the site and secured the area.
After the accident, the Indian Air Force decided to conduct a fresh review of all Tejas jets in service. A formal Court of Inquiry has been established to investigate the exact cause of the crash. Officials stressed that final conclusions will only be drawn after the investigation report is completed.

At present, the air force operates 32 Tejas MK-1 aircraft in its fleet. Defense experts believe a technical malfunction may have caused the crash, but authorities say it is too early to confirm.
Reports also reveal that this is the third Tejas fighter jet crash in the past two years. The first crash occurred in 2024 in Rajasthan, while the second took place last year during the Dubai Airshow.
The repeated incidents have raised serious questions. Is it just bad luck, or is there a deeper technical issue?
If more faults are found, the air force may face pressure to review its strategy. Safety checks will now become more critical than ever.
