Two Indian airlines announced that they expect disruptions to their operations and inconvenience to passengers after Pakistan closed its airspace in retaliation to India’s recent actions, following the pahalgam incident in Indian occupied Kashmir.
The attack, on popular tourist site, claimed at least 26 killing. An unknown group, referred to by Indian media as ‘The Resistance Front’, has reportedly claimed responsibility.
India announced a series of measures targeting Pakistan. Pakistan retaliated by barring Indian-owned and Indian-operated airlines from using its airspace, effective immediately.

Following the announcement, Air India stated on X that some of its flights to and from North America, the UK, Europe, and the Middle East may be rerouted due to the closure.
“Air India regrets the inconvenience caused by this unexpected airspace restriction, which is beyond our control,” the airline said, emphasising its continued focus on passenger and crew safety.
IndiGo also shared a message on Facebook, noting that a number of its international flights had been affected by Pakistan’s sudden airspace ban. The airline urged passengers to check for updates, rebooking options, or request refunds if needed.
“We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we remain committed to assisting our passengers during this difficult time,” IndiGo added.
