ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India after the Pahalgam attack, India has decided to close its airspace to Pakistan.

According to Indian media reports, the move comes a week after the Pahalgam incident. Following the decision, all aircraft registered in Pakistan, operated by Pakistani carriers, or leased by Pakistan have been barred from using Indian airspace.

Indian authorities stated that the restriction will be in effect from April 30 to May 23, 2025.

Prior to this, India had already taken a series of escalatory steps — suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, canceling visas for Pakistani nationals, and ordering them to leave the country. In response, Pakistan had also closed its airspace to Indian aircraft.

Indian airlines are likely to face losses following Pakistan’s airspace closure to Indian carriers.

Two Indian airlines announced that they expect disruptions to their operations and inconvenience to passengers after Pakistan closed its airspace in retaliation to India’s recent actions, following the Pahalgam incident in Indian occupied Kashmir.
