(Web Desk): The United States has implemented stricter visa requirements for foreign visitors, including Pakistani nationals, effective from 2026.

All applicants are now required to submit five years of social media history as part of their application.

According to a notification published in the Federal Register by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), applicants will now be required to submit:

  • A complete five-year history of all social media accounts
  • Email addresses and phone numbers
  • Family information including relatives’ details

US officials say the new measures aim to strengthen national security and improve screening procedures, especially ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, which the US is co-hosting with Canada and Mexico.

The US State Department had earlier advised travelers to keep their social media profiles public for verification. The latest directive now makes the disclosure of five-year digital activity mandatory, tightening procedures for tourists, sports fans, and business travelers.

Authorities said the new requirements will help border officers better assess risks and ensure thorough background checks for all visitors entering the United States.
