(Web Desk): Donald Trump faced backlash after sharing and later deleting an AI image portraying himself as a Jesus-like figure amid criticism over healthcare cuts and remarks about Pope Leo.

Donald Trump has sparked widespread controversy after sharing an AI-generated image of himself on Truth Social that depicted him as a Jesus-like figure performing a healing miracle inside a hospital. The post, which was later deleted, showed divine light emanating from his hands while a sick man lay in bed and a dark, horned figure appeared in the background.

The incident comes at a sensitive political moment, as Trump recently signed legislation that critics say will result in nearly 12 million Americans losing health insurance by reducing Medicaid funding. The timing of the post intensified backlash from critics who accused him of insensitivity and self-glorification.

The former president also engaged in a public dispute with Pope Leo XIV, calling him “weak on crime” and suggesting he was influenced by political strategists. Trump refused to apologize, saying he was only responding to the Pope’s remarks.

The AI image triggered strong reactions even within conservative circles. Several right-wing commentators and supporters condemned the post as disrespectful and inappropriate, while others demanded it be removed and followed by an apology. Trump later defended the image, claiming it was meant to depict himself as a doctor “making people better.”

Vice President JD Vance downplayed the controversy, describing the post as a joke and suggesting critics misunderstood its intent. However, the incident has added to growing political tension surrounding Trump’s messaging and his ongoing disputes with religious and political figures.
