(Web Desk): Iranian and US officials meet in Oman aiming to revive nuclear negotiations and ease long-standing tensions.

Iran and US delegations arrived in Oman to begin crucial nuclear talks aimed at reaching a fair and mutually acceptable agreement.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reached Muscat to represent Tehran, while US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff is leading the American delegation. According to international media reports, Jared Kushner, son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump, is also part of the US team, highlighting the importance of the negotiations.

A spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Araghchi will participate in nuclear discussions with full authority. Iran has stated that its goal is to achieve a fair, balanced and respectful agreement that protects its national interests while addressing international concerns over its nuclear programme.

Initially, the talks were scheduled to take place in Istanbul, Turkiye, on Friday. However, Iran requested that the venue be shifted to Oman, which has historically played a neutral role in facilitating dialogue between the two countries.

Iran also requested that regional partners should not be included in the discussions and emphasized that the negotiations must remain focused solely on nuclear-related issues. This condition reflects Tehran’s intention to keep the talks limited and avoid expanding the agenda to broader regional conflicts.

The talks in Oman are being closely watched by the international community, as any progress could help reduce tensions between Iran and the US and potentially lead to improved diplomatic and economic relations after years of conflict and sanctions.
