(Web Desk): U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar was sprayed with an unknown substance by a man at a Minneapolis town hall but continued her speech amid rising tensions over immigration enforcement.

A shocking incident occurred Tuesday evening when U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar was sprayed with an unknown liquid by a man during a town hall meeting in Minneapolis. The attack happened as Omar was speaking about abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and urging the resignation of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem amid heightened unrest over federal immigration operations.

Video of the event shows the assailant rushing toward Omar at her podium and spraying an unidentified substance from a syringe before being quickly tackled to the ground by security officers. The crowd reacted with shock as the incident unfolded live.

The 55yearold suspect, identified by authorities as Anthony Kazmierczak, was immediately arrested and booked on thirddegree assault charges. Minneapolis police and forensic teams responded to the scene to process evidence, but it remains unclear what substance was used.

Despite the disruption, Omar was unharmed and chose to continue her remarks after a brief pause, demonstrating resilience and commitment to her work. She later posted on social media that she is okay, saying she “doesn’t let bullies win” and thanked her supporters for rallying behind her.

The attack drew swift condemnation from political leaders across party lines, including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and South Carolina Representative Nancy Mace, who denounced violence against elected officials. The incident highlights growing concerns about threats and intimidation against public figures in the current polarized climate.
