The survey found that 41 percent of Americans now side more with Palestinians, while 36 percent support Israel. The rest are either undecided or express support for both or neither.
This marks a sharp change from just a year ago, when Israel held a 46–33 percent lead in American sympathies. Among independents, support leaned toward Palestinians by 11 points.
Republicans continue to favor Israel, with 70 percent backing the country. However, this represents a 10-point drop in support over the past decade.
Democratic support for Israel has fallen significantly. Only 17 percent of Democrats now sympathize with Israel, while 65 percent side with Palestinians. Many Democrats have criticized US leadership for not restraining Israel during the Gaza conflict after October 7, 2023.

The survey also notes that Israel’s political shift to the right, especially under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has affected American perceptions, particularly among Democrats.
Gallup surveyed 1,001 US adults by telephone between February 2 and 16.
