According to details, an agreement has been signed between the United States and the European Union, taking trade relations to a new level. Under the agreement, a 15 percent tariff will be imposed on imports, which is lower than the 30 and 20 percent rates considered in the past.

In 2024, the United States exported $370.2 billion worth of products to the European Union, while importing $605 billion worth of products from the union.

President Donald Trump announced that the European Union has committed to investing $600 billion in $750 billion in American energy purchases. However, full details of the investments have not yet been made public. US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says that separate tariffs on semiconductor imports will be announced soon. Under the new terms, aircraft parts, certain chemicals, agricultural products and low-cost pharmaceuticals are exempt from the tariffs.

Trade circles have expressed doubts that further price increases for European vehicles and heavy machinery are possible, however. Trade organizations have already claimed to bear billions of dollars in additional costs.

It should be noted that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the 15% tariff is high, but it has prevented serious economic distress.
