Official talks between Pakistan and the US will commence quickly in the upcoming days in order to talk about the tariffs on trade and economic matters. For this reason, a high-level Pakistani trade team will travel to Washington this week to talk through recent US tariffs and connected economic concerns with American authorities. This visit is a key step in strengthening bilateral trade relations.
The high-level Pakistani trade team will be guided by Commerce Secretary Jawad Paul and has representatives from the energy and IT sectors as well as senior officials from the Federal Board of Revenue. In order to address trade imbalances, tariff adjustments, and sector-wise collaboration, they will meet with US trade representatives throughout the three-day visit. These discussions come after a string of diplomatic exchanges between Washington and Islamabad.
Moreover, on June 9th, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Deputy Prime Minister will visit Washington. This will start talks on security in the region, post-conflict discussions and further strategic collaboration. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will have meetings with other senior officials about these crucial matters.

In the meantime, PTI is planning a large protest in Washington on 14 June, causing political tensions to escalate. PTI resists any consensus made by the present government, requesting Pakistani Americans to express their disapproval. Due to security and diplomatic concerns, officials have not confirmed reports that Pakistan s Army Chief will be visiting Washington.
Due to the recent border clashes between Pakistan and India, both countries have sent parliamentary delegations to Washington. Pakistan has thanked the US president for facilitating a truce. Pakistan has also urged the US to take a more proactive role in order to help decrease regional tensions and resume Kashmir discussions.
