This method helps the company trace who is responsible if confidential details appear online. Rockstar has also spread controlled or fake details internally to confuse potential leakers and prevent accurate GTA 6 leaks from spreading.

The decision to use spy tactics came after GTA 6 leaks in 2022, when more than 90 early gameplay videos were leaked online.

The incident shocked the gaming industry and forced Rockstar to strengthen security. Since then, these spy tactics are being used inside Rockstar offices where GTA 6 is under development.
