PTA Q1 2025 Survey: Jazz rules tests, Zong rules reality
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has unveiled the results of its Q1 2025 Quality of Service (QoS) survey across 15 major cities.

The survey has reignited the rivalry between mobile giants Jazz and Zong for delivering the fastest mobile download speeds.

Jazz Wins in Automated Testing
Using PTA’s own automated testing—designed to mirror average consumer usage—Jazz topped the charts in 11 out of 15 cities, claiming the highest download speeds. Noteworthy city-wise figures include:

Chamkani: 39.06 Mbps, Hala: 32.32 Mbps, Rahim Yar Khan: 25.01 Mbps and Dinga: 25.84 Mbps

Zong Dominates Third-Party App Results
When neutral third-party apps (often reflecting real-world experience) were used, Zong surged to the top in 10 cities, outpacing its rivals. Standout results were recorded at:

Dina: 40.36 Mbps, Kasur: 36.27 Mbps, Rahim Yar Khan: 39.59 Mbps and Chamkani: 29.14 Mbps

Bottom Tier: Ufone & Telenor
According to the PTA data, Ufone typically ranked third or fourth, and Telenor consistently finished last, well behind Jazz and Zong in both test categories.

Automated Testing (Jazz): Ideal for users who rely on network stability under standard load conditions.

Third-Party App Testing (Zong): Favours users seeking peak real-world performance, perhaps during high-demand tasks like large downloads or streaming.

Both mobile carriers dramatically outpace Ufone and Telenor, reinforcing their positions as Pakistan’s fastest networks based on download speed.

The highest single-city speed was observed by Zong in Dina: 40.36 Mbps during third-party app testing—the fastest speed reported in the entire Q1 survey.

For many users, these tests translate into real-world gains: faster video buffering, smoother conference calls, and less lag during downloads.

Chamkani residents on Jazz experienced nearly 40 Mbps, which is fantastic for HD streaming and remote work.

Dina residents that use Zong enjoyed over 40 Mbps, which is often enough to support multiple users on a single connection. By contrast, residents that use Ufone and Telenor during peak hours might struggle with slower, inconsistent connections.

If consistent performance under standard usage is a priority, then choose Jazz; if not, opt for Zong if you want burst speeds in real-world usage scenarios.

Ufone and Telenor, for download-hungry users, are less compelling because they remain behind in terms of speed.
