(Web Desk): Xiaomi has officially launched the Xiaomi 17, becoming the first smartphone to feature Qualcomm’s cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

Alongside this performance leap, the flagship device boasts a massive 7,000 mAh battery, faster charging speeds, and a sleek refined design, positioning it as one of the most advanced smartphones of 2025. For now, the handset is available only in China, with a global rollout expected soon.

Design and Display

The Xiaomi 17 features a flat aluminum frame with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Its 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display delivers a resolution of 1,220 x 2,656 pixels, dynamic refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, and peak brightness up to 3,500 nits. Protected by Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass, the panel is nearly bezel-less at just 1.18mm on all sides. The phone also includes an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for faster and more reliable unlocking.

Performance and Software

Powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and paired with a 4,497mm² vapor chamber for thermal management, the phone comes in 12GB and 16GB RAM variants, with storage options of 256GB and 512GB. It runs on HyperOS 3, offering smooth performance and deeper integration across Xiaomi’s ecosystem.

Cameras and Battery

The triple-camera setup includes a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP telephoto lens with 2.6x optical zoom. The front camera has also been upgraded to 50MP. Powering the device is a 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, supporting 100W wired, 50W wireless, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging.

Pricing

In China, the Xiaomi 17 starts at $630 for the 12GB/256GB model, $672 for the 12GB/512GB version, and $700 for the 16GB/512GB variant. International prices will vary once the phone launches globally.
