(Web Desk): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has granted permission to use the 6 GHz band (5925–6425 MHz) for Wi-Fi 7.

As per PTA, Wi-Fi 7 will provide the highest data rates in Pakistan, providing superior performance for applications like high-definition video streaming, AR/VR, and industrial automation.

The authority added that the new technology will also reduce broadband prices, alleviate congestion on current spectrum bands, and enhance network reliability overall. This new technology is likely to benefit homes, businesses, schools, healthcare networks, and smart city projects.

Pakistan positioned itself as one of the pioneering regions in the Asia-Pacific region to adopt this technology by approving Wi-Fi 7. PTA emphasized that Wi-Fi 7 is equipped with extremely fast data speeds, very low latency, and strong connectivity—features required for 8K streaming and other future digital uses. The announcement comes on the heels of the previous release of Wi-Fi 6E, demonstrating Pakistan s continued march toward establishing cutting-edge digital infrastructure.

The expansion also supports the government s overall digital transformation agenda.

Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, announced this week intentions to launch 5G services in seven key cities in the next few months. Addressing the inauguration of the 26th ITCN Asia Expo in Karachi, she mentioned that efforts are being taken to enhance internet dependability across the country.
