(Web Desk): Thousands of Snapchat users across the world faced sudden disruption on Monday, leaving many unable to send snaps or view story.

The glitch began early morning, with Down Detector recording a surge in complaints around 7:45am. Users reported issues with the app, website, and server connections, rendering Snapchat almost unusable for several hours.

At the same time, users of other popular platforms including Roblox, Canva, Duolingo, and Wordle, also reported similar problems, suggesting a widespread technical failure.

Frustrated Snapchatters took to X to share their experiences. One user wrote, “I repeat! SNAPCHAT IS DOWN… they deleted all my friends hopefully it’s temporary.” Another complained, “I’m about to lose an 882-day streak, YOUR app is making me lose it!”

Responding swiftly, Snapchat’s spokesperson said, “We’re aware that some Snapchatters are having issues using the app right now, hang tight, we’re looking into it!”

Reports later indicated that the outage might be linked to Amazon Web Services (AWS), which hosts large parts of the internet. According to AWS, they were facing “increased error rates” and delays with “multiple services.” Engineers were “actively working on mitigating the issue and understanding the root cause.”

Many online users wondered why several major websites went down simultaneously, with one post saying, “Fortnite, Snapchat, Roblox, Alexa, Amazon, PS Network, and many other games and services are down.”

Down detector, a platform that tracks service outages — confirmed a spike in problem reports far above the usual average. The site gathers live data from users and social media to detect outages in real time.
