LAHORE (Web Desk): Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has been told by a Paris labor court to pay their former star Kylian Mbappe 60 million euros in unpaid salary and bonuses, ending a long legal battle between the two sides.

The decision came after months of hearings linked to a contract dispute that began before Mbappe left the club.  Mbappe had originally demanded 263 million euros from PSG, claiming damages over unpaid money and what he described as unfair treatment by the club.

PSG, on the other hand, countersued the France captain for 240 million euros, accusing him of harming the club financially.

The court, however, awarded Mbappe only part of his claim. Judges ruled that PSG failed to pay three months of salary between April and June 2024. The court also confirmed that an ethics bonus and a signing bonus mentioned in his contract were not paid. Most of the awarded amount reportedly comes from bonuses rather than basic salary.

Earlier, Mbappe’s legal team had asked for 55 million euros in PSG’s accounts to be frozen, which the court approved in May. His lawyer, Frederique Cassereau welcomed the verdict, saying unpaid salaries cannot be ignored, even in top-level football.

In a detailed statement, Mbappe’s lawyers said the ruling confirms that contracts must be honored and that labor laws apply to football clubs as much as any other workplace. They added that Mbappe respected his duties for seven years, right up to his final day at the club.

PSG said it will follow the court’s order but has not ruled out an appeal. The club repeated its stance that it acted in good faith and wished Mbappe success in the next stage of his career. PSG had also earlier sought compensation over Mbappe’s failed 300 million euro transfer to Saudi club Al-Hilal in 2023.

The dispute deepened after Mbappe refused to extend his contract and declined the Saudi move. He was left out of PSG’s Asia tour and missed the start of the 2023–24 season before later returning to the squad. PSG claimed he agreed to give up some payments, but Mbappe’s camp dismissed this as fantasy in court.

Mbappe joined PSG in 2017 from Monaco and left in 2024, winning 15 trophies. He remains the club’s all-time top scorer with 256 goals in 308 matches. He now plays for Real Madrid after joining on a free transfer.
