After 14 years in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Faf du Plessis decided not to register for this year’s IPL auction and instead embrace a new challenge by joining PSL Season 11.
“This year, I have decided to accept a new challenge, and I want to play in PSL Season 11,” du Plessis said.
He added, “This is an exciting step for me. It is a chance to experience something new and grow as a player.”
The veteran batsman also expressed his excitement about learning the PSL culture up close. “I will get the chance to know a new league closely and see its energy and talent,” he said.
Faf du Plessis praised the league for its passion and stated, “The Pakistan Super League is full of enthusiasm and talent, and I am looking forward to playing in front of Pakistan’s traditional hospitality and passionate fans.”

Fans eagerly await seeing his international experience enhance the league’s competitiveness. “See you all soon,” he concluded.
In another major PSL development, Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen announced he will not renew his franchise ownership.
Tareen, who had owned the team for seven years, tweeted that he would rather leave on his own terms than continue under challenges with league management, saying, “I would rather lose the team standing on my feet than run it from my knees.”
This year’s PSL season is shaping up to be full of excitement, with top international talent joining and big franchise changes adding drama to the league.
Analysts say Faf du Plessis joining PSL brings international attention and strengthens the league’s competitiveness. They believe his experience from IPL will boost team performance and inspire young Pakistani players. Experts also note that this move may increase viewership and attract more global talent to PSL.
