(Web Desk): Multan Sultans are poised for a PSL return as PCB reviews a proposed franchise name switch.

Multan Sultans are close to returning to the PSL as PCB prepares to approve a major franchise name change.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) could soon witness the revival of one of its most recognisable brands. Sources say CD Ventures has formally requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to rename the newly formed Sialkot Stallionz franchise as Multan Sultans ahead of the 2026 season.

An official announcement is expected in the coming days, potentially confirming the return of the Multan identity to the league.

The development follows a major ownership reshuffle. OZ Developers, who were initially awarded the Sialkot franchise during the PSL’s expansion phase, reportedly faced financial difficulties. As a result, CD Ventures, led by Gohar Shah, acquired a near-total stake in the team, effectively taking operational control before the franchise could debut in the league.

Rather than building the Sialkot Stallionz brand from scratch, the new owners appear keen to revive the established Multan Sultans identity, which already carries strong market recognition and a loyal fan base in South Punjab.

The Multan name became available after the previous franchise operating under that banner was rebranded as Rawalpindi following an ownership change involving Walee Technologies.

Supporters of the move argue that restoring the Multan Sultans brand offers commercial advantages, including stronger regional connection and easier marketing. PSL CEO Salman Naseer has hinted that clarity on the franchise’s ownership and identity will be announced soon.
