The International Cricket Council (ICC) has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of the decision made by the Indian authorities.
Scheduled for February next year, the 2025 Champions Trophy will make a comeback after eight years as it is the first ICC event to be held in Pakistan since it shared the 1996 ODI World Cup alongside India and Sri Lanka.
Preparations for the event are in full swing while reports have emerged that the BCCI informed the ICC about their refusal to travel to the neighbouring country.
Why will India not go to Pakistan?
The two archrivals have been involved in long-standing political crises. Therefore, their meetings have been limited to ICC events.
Last time in 2012-13, Pakistan toured India for ODIs and T20Is.
Since the 2008 Asia Cup, India have not toured the country. They recently refused to tour Pakistan for the 2022 Asia Cup, preferring to play their games in Sri Lanka.
What happens next?
The ICC and the PCB may activate a contingency plan to accommodate India in the coming competitions with hybrid model. However, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has ruled out using a hybrid model. If the PCB remains firm on rejecting the hybrid model, it could lead to a standoff with the BCCI.
On the other side, Cricket Australia said on Monday their all-rounder Cooper Connolly will miss the Twenty20 series against the tourists.
The 21-year-old lefthander will miss the contest as he had fractured his hand while batting against Pakistan in the third one-day international on Sunday.
Playing only his second ODI, Connolly was forced to retire hurt in Perth after being struck on the hand by a Mohammad Hasnain delivery as Australia slumped to an eight-wicket loss to hand Pakistan a 2-1 series triumph.
Scans later confirmed Connolly had fractured the fourth metacarpal on his left hand, CA said.
Josh Philippe will replace him in the squad for the Twenty20 series against Pakistan, which starts in Brisbane on Thursday with matches to follow in Sydney and Hobart.
CA have prioritised the preparation of their test players for the upcoming series against India over the two short-format series against Pakistan.
Josh Inglis, the back-up wicketkeeper in the longest format, is the only member of the squad for the first test against India in Perth who will feature in the T20 series.
